Managing Rumination and Worry Study What is the Managing Rumination and Worry Study? We are evaluating a new online program designed to help adults who are currently experiencing difficulty with worry and/or rumination. We need your help to evaluate this program in our research study! This is a free, confidential and brief 6-week program involving 3 lessons of internet-delivered psychological therapy that teaches people skills to better manage their rumination and/or worry. It can be done at home and in your own time. How does it all work? First we ask you to complete some brief online questionnaires. In order to be eligible to participate in the study, you need to be currently experiencing relatively elevated levels of rumination and/or worry. This will be assessed during the online application when you complete the questionnaires. If you are eligible after the online questionnaires, we will then get in touch with you for a brief (5-10 minute) phone call to see if this program will be suitable for you. If the program is suitable for you and you agree to participate, you will be able to immediately access the online program at no cost! All components of the program are online and you will be required to answer some brief questionnaires during and just after the program, with some follow-up questionnaires 1 month after the conclusion of the program. Please note that in order to proceed with your application, you need to provide your full name and email address so that we are able to contact you. As your safety and well-being is very important to us, we will also require that you provide the contact details of your GP. Please note that we will only contact your GP if we are concerned about your safety and will always attempt to contact you first. What can I expect if I decide to apply? You must first read the participant information sheet (think terms and conditions) and then indicate your informed consent to apply for the trial and, if eligible, to participate in the trial. If you register, you will be asked to provide your name, age, gender, phone number, and email address. You will also be asked to complete screening questionnaires to establish that you have elevated levels of rumination and/or worry. However, we cannot include individuals with a bipolar disorder, psychosis, or schizophrenia, as we do not have evidence that our program benefits these conditions. Additionally, as we must adhere to the strict patient safety regulations required by our Research Ethics committee, we cannot include individuals who are currently suicidal. If you are found to be eligible for the study, you will then complete a brief telephone call with one of our research staff. If you are eligible, you will be accepted into the trial and will be able to begin the program immediately. Is it free? Yes. It usually costs to do our courses, however this research trial is a way that you can get to do the courses for free. You will not be paid for your participation. What if I can’t finish the course? Participation in the program is completely voluntary and you can drop out at any time, but we would love for you to stay! Want to apply? Please click “Apply Now” below! It is best to complete your application using a desktop PC or a laptop and Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome as the web browser. At this time, we discourage the use of mobile phones to complete your application. Feel free to contact our team via email on [email protected] (during business hours AEDT) if you have any questions or concerns.
